How long have The Apartment Service been in operation and which brands do they operate?
The Apartment Service is built on a wealth of experience offering services to the travel sector since 1981. The Apartment Service "brand" traditionally offers serviced apartments for stays of one night, one week, one month or even a year in cities worldwide, whilst Executive Roomspace (since 1997) provides fully furnished and serviced apartments for stays of one month or more in London and Roomspace Serviced Apartments (since 2002) concentrates on corporate stays of one week or more in London and a number of other cities in the UK. We have recently launched our first corporate serviced apartment location overseas in Lisbon (Portugal). Santos River Apartments has 14 fully furnished and serviced apartments for stays of one week or more.

What additional services could one expect when staying in a serviced apartment as opposed to a hotel?
A fully equipped kitchen and a more spacious environment are the biggest features of a serviced apartment, which enable the guest to cook at home and have more space to work and relax in. Another important factor is the added privacy and the benefit of "your own" front door

Can you please list the benefits to the end user of using a serviced apartment as opposed to standard hotel accommodation?
More spacious, greater privacy and their own fully equipped kitchen. This will give the guest a "Home away from home" feel, which can not be recreated in a standard hotel room. On top of that, serviced apartments will save the client on average 30%, against hotel accommodation of comparable standard.

Furthermore, and from a corporate point of view, what benefit(s) can be gained by a company in terms of cost efficiency and associated factors?
The Apartment Service can source and manage serviced accommodation for Individual corporate clients, which will give them the freedom to use this accommodation exclusively. This will provide them with a considerable cost saving. This service, Roomspace Solutions, is a hassle free solution for our corporate clients. We take away their stress of finding and maintaining their short term housing so that they can get on with their business.

How easy is it to book a serviced apartment?

Can I pay by credit card?
The Apartment Service accepts all major credit cards, accompanied by the proper security information. (Credit card payments are subject to a 3.5%-4% administration fee)

What other options for payment do I have?
Debit cards, bank transfers into our UK bank account, cheques (in GBP drawn on a UK bank account) and GBP Traveller Cheques.

How will I receive my confirmation?
When you make your booking during UK office hours you will normally receive your confirmation via email, or fax within 24 hours of confirming the booking. The timing depends on when we receive the confirmation back from the property that your booking has been confirmed. When you make a booking via our online system, you will receive an instant holding confirmation, pending confirmation of the booking by the property.

How do I obtain the keys to my apartment?
At the time of booking you will be advised by our reservations consultant of the check in procedure. If the property you have booked has a 24 hour reception, you can just turn up with your confirmation and they will give you the keys. In some cases however we will need to arrange for the keys to be sent to an address convenient to you, or operate a key delivery system.

I am a private landlord and own/manage some serviced apartments. What are the minimum requirements to be added to your database?
In general you need to have a minimum of 5 apartments in one location. If you offer fewer apartments, or more apartments but in different locations, there are certain criteria which need to be fulfilled to be listed on our website. For more information please contact Andrea Haag (
