The Apartment Service exhibits at The Business Travel Conference by Bard Vos

TBTC 17/18 Oct 2011 – Attended by Tess Delve, Business Development Executive and Helen Richardson, Business Development Executive.

Helen and I had a fantastic exhibition we had a great stand set up just as you entered the conference. The workshop and seminars went smoothly and were well attended. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, drink and sweets provided especially Helen and I.

We met lots of superb new (and current) corporate contacts and we got the opportunity to get to know them well at the dinner dance. We formed a new group of leading ladies called the ‘Prosecco Club’ and spent a fun packed few hours eating drinking and dancing. We all regrouped back at our stand for lunch on the second day and made a promise to keep in touch.

The second day was even better than the first as people were really getting into the swing of it. There was a real buzz in the air. Over all we really enjoyed it and we feel it will be very beneficial.

The Apartment Service at the ERC Workforce Symposium in Denver by Bard Vos

ERC Denver Oct 2011 – Attended by Melanie Degand, Director of Sales and Sara Calvo, Sales Manager.

After much hilarity and hysteria regarding our visa applications (or lack of) at T5 Heathrow, we finally boarded and were on our way to The Worldwide ERC in Denver, Colorado.

Our exhibition booth attracted many admirers where we showcased our “Straight from the Horse’s Mouth” Serviced Apartment Industry report 2011 written by our very own Charlie McCrow.

It was great to meet up with industry friends and put names to faces with some of our overseas clients. With our intentions to help the US relocate clients to Europe and the rest of the world as an agent and provider, we forged some great new relationships in the American relocation and mobility market. We intend to bring back a slice of Denver’s excellent customer service which was outstanding and want to extend this to our own clients when helping them to find temporary serviced apartment solutions.

The Apartment Service Go Karting with ITM by Bard Vos

The Apartment Service was represented last week on Thursday (13th October) at a Go Karting Event organised by the Institute for Travel and Meetings (ITM). Although we were tipped as the favourites, we narrowly missed a podium spot. Our team however with Jostein Smeby, Sean Briggs, Oyinda Kasumu and captain Mario Erro (alias the Super Mario Brothers and Sister) had a great evening and "we like to thank the ITM for inviting us."

Sean, Oyinda, Jostein and Mario looking the part!!

Welcome to Jostein Smeby - strengthening the Account Development Team by Bard Vos

Jostein has recently joined The Apartment Service as an Account Development Executive.

I’m a 40yr old Norwegian, with a background as a Real Estate Agent, Sales consultant, Team leader, district Manager, Key Account Manager(in Norway) and now I’m a Account Development Executive in TAS. I’m a person who likes challenges, so I should thrive here in TAS. On a personal note, September is a very important month for me, since I then join up with my father and brother and go hunting wild reindeer in the Norwegian mountains. This year I got a really wonderful hunting experience and a pretty big buck....

Welcome Jostein!

My Cause by Renata Mucska

I am supporting WWF and have adopted a tiger called Kamrita who lives in Chitwan National Park, which is in Nepal. I am giving donation every month to support the rangers who protect the tigers against animal cruelty.

Today there are as few as 3,200 left in the wild.

It’s WWF’s goal to double wild tiger numbers by 2022 – the next Chinese Year of the Tiger, and it’s only with our support that they can continue to help protect wild tigers and work to tackle the most serious environmental challenges facing our planet.

If someone else wants to support WWF please access the following link

The Apartment Service at Office* 2011 by Tess Smith

Sean and I covered the Office* 2011 Exhibition which we thought was great. We met lots of lovely people and bonded with our ESA colleagues. We went to the after show party at Planet Hollywood and met the three giant transvestites. We partied to the great cabaret and drank a few cheeky vinos!

All in all a great two days.

My Cause by Melissa Seneviratne

26th December 2004

I still remember like it was yesterday. I woke up after Christmas day, put on the TV, and there it was. I was devastated by the earthquake and tsunami that hit many parts of Asia and east Africa including where I’m from, Sri Lanka. My first reaction was to call all my family and to see if they were ok, but the telephone lines were down. It was hours and days before we could reach anyone. So it was upsetting when I found out my uncle passed away during this time.

Since then every time I go to Sri Lanka, we visit the areas that have been affected. We take food, stationery, clothes, and money and distribute it to everyone. Its feels good to be able to talk to the victims and help them in any way possible, especially when you see them from time to time and see how they are progressing through their lives.

Over 294,000 people died in Sri Lanka due to the tsunami, they lost their homes, schools, hospitals and most importantly their loves ones. There’s a lot of work that still needs to be done in rebuilding the country after the disaster, therefore if you wish to donate, please visit World Food Programme (

New Staff by Admin

My name is Amy Gregory and I have just started working at The Apartment Service as an I.T. Support Assistant.

I have worked in I.T. for 8 years within a diverse range of companies – I have worked in the I.T. departments of schools and universities to one of the country’s largest I.T service providers.  I am very passionate about my work and have just finished a degree in I.T. for E-Business which I studied for in the evenings.  I enjoy working within I.T as I like being able to help bridge the gap between people and machines – using computers is often a daunting experience for many people, especially when things go wrong and I feel it’s important to ensure that people feel supported within their work environment.

When I am not at work or studying new things I enjoy making things.  I currently make handmade cards and jewellery and have just learnt to crochet.  I also enjoy baking (although I am not very good at it!).

I look forward to working with everyone at The Apartment Service and am excited to take on new challenges and gain new experiences.
