The Apartment Service Christmas Party by Esther Munoz Tong

The extent of the “Big Freeze” was so bad that even our Christmas party venue had to cancel our reservation last Friday due to treacherous road conditions, with just a couple of hours notice. Fortunately, impromptu drinks and nibbles were organised for everyone in the office -before the local shops closed early- and our indomitable Reservations, Sales and Guest Services teams painted Wimbledon town Red.  

Touched by this rough weather and its consequences; The Apartment Service put our party funds towards a contribution to ShelterUK in order to support this brilliant charity in making Christmas a bit more bearable for those who are homeless, battling to keep their homes or housed in substandard conditions during this particularly bitter winter.

Shelter was founded in England in 1966 by the Reverend Bruce Kendrick, who was horrified by the state of the tenements round his Notting Hill parish. Currently, more than one million individuals approach Shelter every year for advice and support. The charity helps people find and keep a home in a place where they can thrive, and tackle the root causes of bad housing by campaigning for new laws, policies and solutions.

Our New Year by Admin

Our New Year London Open Day is going to be held on January 19th 2011 to kick-start the year and celebrate our 30th Anniversary!


The Apartment Service will be hosting breakfast from 8:00am through to 10:00am, followed by lunch from 12:00 – 14:00. During the evening we will be hosting a wonderful wine tasting that starts at 18:00 and finishes at 20:00   


The Apartment Service invites you to enjoy a full day of tasty bites ending with a wine tasting to kick start our 30th Anniversary celebrations... All in the relaxed atmosphere of our London apartments.

The Apartment Service at the Hotel Booking Agents Association Charity Auction by Esther Munoz Tong

Lynn’s Bowel Cancer Campaign is a small charity founded by former Watchdog presenter Lynn Faulds Wood, who beat advanced bowel cancer. Lynn has campaigned over the last eighteen years to raise awareness of this disease and to save lives, involving such major figures as Prince Charles and the Pope in talking about this neglected cancer. It's our aim to get bowels in the news as much as possible.  

Bowel Cancer is the second commonest cancer which kills people in the UK, causing more deaths every year than breast and cervical cancer put together. Around 35,000 people will be diagnosed with bowel cancer this year.

 Around 38,000 people will be diagnosed with bowel cancer this year. But the good news is - it is one of the most curable cancers you can get if it is caught early enough Bowel Cancer is also confusingly known as colon or colorectal cancer but it is all the same disease. It mainly affects people over the age of 60.

The Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA) are long time supporters of Lynn's Bowel Cancer Campaign and the Apartment Service for the second year the Apartment Service is supporting this noble initiative sponsoring one of the prizes in the HBAA’s Annual Dinner Auction which will include two complimentary nights in Lisbon, Prague or Madrid plus £250 towards the flight.

All Staff Focus Day by Esther Munoz Tong

We had our first “All Staff Focus Day” today - actually it had to be split in two big groups to maintain all our services running- but the general consensus was that it has been a very useful exercise and a brilliant platform to reinforce the Apartment Service short and medium term objectives, as is always easier to achieve these if everyone is kept in the loop at all times, to improve our internal communications, as well as to brainstorm and get feedback from everyone in the company who is in permanent contact with our customers.

None of us had any idea how much fun we’d have before we went in. I was laughing out loud much of the time at the hilarious chatting.  Not to mention that nice and buzzing feeling one gets of having been listened to after a work meeting.

TAS will continue to organise in person and online staff events once or twice a year. We hope that future events would provide us with the opportunity to further communicate, inspire and motivate the Apartment Service team.

An introduction by Admin

I am very happy to announce that the Apartment Service International Reservations team has become even richer with the addition of a new team member: Renata Mucska. She started her career in the hospitality sector doing her internship Novotel Budapest within the area of Reservations and Banqueting. She moved over to London in 2007 with Novotel working in Reservations and then in 2008 moved to Hilton has group coordinator.


Her last role was with Deutsche Bah UK German Railways as Trade and Groups Executive. Her main role there was being responsible for Great Rail Journeys in charge of  their section of European first class groups.


Renata has a great passion for travelling. Hopefully she is as excited to be joining us as the rest of us in the Apartment Service are with her arrival.

Groveland and Watling Street Open Day – A GREAT SUCCESS! by Esther Munoz Tong

Another opportunity to meet our City based clients and a chance for our team to brag about our lovely serviced apartments in the heart of London. 

An ideal environment to put faces to names, to reinforce our business relationships, help our clients to familiarise with what’s on offer and experience the solutions that we provide for business travellers.

Not to mention, our increasingly renowned Wine Tasting session - the team at the Open Day assure me that it went down very well with our guests - this means a lot more fine wine and beverage events to come...

The Apartment Service Open Day at Plaza 21 in Swindon by Admin

The Apartment Service held its “Open Day” at Plaza 21 in Swindon on Monday and despite the cold weather it certainly didn’t discourage people from coming along to discover what we have to offer there.


We started with a buffet lunch served with hot Tea and Coffee to warm everyone up... Plenty of conversation was had regarding the history of Swindon and we found out that Swindon is in fact derived from two words “Swine” and “Dun” or “Pig Hill” - (Hill where pigs are bred). Wiltshire is famous of course for its Gammon.


Our Wine Tasting was a great success for everyone and the feedback has been very positive. Words such as “fun”, “informative”, “educational” and “interesting” have been used to describe the experience. We feel that wine tasting events are a new twist on a very useful exercise.


Our next Open Day and Wine Tasting is on Thursday 9th December in our Watling Street properties in Central London. If you can make it we will be very pleased to see you all there!
